One down!

Everything went great on Friday. Here are the main points and highlights:

~Since there was a convention in Salt Lake on Thursday, I had a heck of a time finding a hotel. Fortunately, after calling almost every hotel in Salt Lake for days, I found a room. Unfortunately, it was an old, dumpy hotel. Jesse has called me a hotel snob our entire marriage, and I whole heartedly agree.

~Ezra was incredibly happy and playful in the multiple waiting rooms we graced with our presence starting at 6:00 am (Utah time) on Friday morning. He would say "Hi" to other adults and had a great time playing with cars. And he was a really patient boy when the nurse took all of his vitals and we put hospital clothes and tags on him. We couldn't ask for a better baby!

~Ezra even did well without having breakfast! The only time he asked for food was right before they took him back to the op-room. In the waiting room, they had given him medicine that made his mouth dry and his heart race. Once that kicked in he asked for something to eat or drink. Luckily, the doctor came and got him right after!

~The procedure only took half an hour (which is much shorter than what were used too). When the doctor came to tell us it was over and that Ezra was perfect, he laughed because we were still eating a little breakfast. We laughed when he told us they cleaned out a little bit of food that was stuck in between the fake palate and the real palate. That definitely did not come as a surprise.

~ Ezra is always upset when he comes out of the anesthesia. Unfortunately, they put the IV in his thumb-sucking hand. He freaked out when he couldn't get his thumb in his mouth. The nurse was so nice and freed up his thumb, but he wrings his hands together as he sucks his thumb, so he was still freaking out about the IV. He was yelling and trying to pull the IV out. Luckily, the nurse decided the remove the IV before he did. As soon as the IV was out and he could suck his thumb like normal, he calmed right down and and let me sing to him. It was all uphill from there.

~While we were in the post-op room, Ezra perked right up. He started kissing and hugging his Daddy and his stuffed animal, Froggie. By the time we left he was bouncing and making fun noises and smiling at everyone he passed.

~ We took him right to the cafeteria and he packed in the food. We were so excited because it seemed like he got less food out his nose and he didn't have any problem eating.

~As soon as we got in the car he fell asleep. We headed to Provo, and all three of us took a really long nap at Riley and Kristen's place. It was so nice to visit with them and recuperate at their apartment.

~ After our long nap and a visit to Cafe Rio, we headed home and got in late last night.

~ We are so thankful that everything went so well. We feel so blessed that Ezra is healthy and that we were able to travel without bad weather or accident!
